David gets a scholarship

This is the story I was told.

A Mr. Maseland, owner of Maseland Rugs, was concerned about the situation in our country. He walked into Union Seminary in New York City, and said he wanted to give a sholarship to a pasto who been in ministry for the past ten years. I don’t know if he was Methodist or not.

There was a nationwide search, and David won the scholarship. He could take any course he wanted, a room was provided as well as tuition. Sam Yamashita of California won second place – a semester’s study and board.

Thus began our adventure: David, me, Neel and Sally, plus Sally’s cat, Sweatpea.

David decided to work on a Master’s Degree in Theology. The children were enrolled in PS 125, and I took a class at Juliard.
